At LRMC, we recognize that homelessness and poor health are closely linked. Homeless individuals often suffer from a number of preventable and chronic physical and mental health issues. The daily struggle for food, shelter, clothing, and safety, reduces the importance of health to a distant priority which complicates treatment and can result in the severity of disease and increased mortality.
Our team of health professionals provides care for individuals experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness at our office, Health Access, on Mr. Joe White Avenue in Myrtle Beach. The team at Health Access offers primary health care, behavioral health and case management, and limited lab testing.
The staff at Health Access provides assistance for men, women, and youth who are living in shelters, transitional housing, their care or any other unstable housing environment. They can assist with referrals and enrollment for support services such as no-cost prescription medications, housing assistance, supplemental nutrition and more.
